Benefits of Water!
1. Relieves Headaches
Inadequate hydration can lead to a temporary shrinking of the brain due to fluid loss, causing it to retract from the skull and resulting in a dehydration headache.
2. Keeps Pain Away.
Muscle cramps, aching joints, and even back pain can be indications of dehydration. It is important to stay well-hydrated to prevent these issues. Ensuring your body has enough water helps to keep your joints lubricated and supports the discs in your spine.
Enhances Your Immune System. Staying hydrated by drinking water is important for fighting the flu and common cold. Even mild dehydration can make you feel unwell. Proper hydration supports a stronger immune system, as well as better circulation and oxygen delivery to cells. Water also helps rid the body of toxins and can serve as a natural pain reliever.
Promotes Healthy Digestion. Drinking an adequate amount of water can support proper colon function and prevent constipation. Water plays a key role in aiding the digestion process by helping to break down food and improve nutrient absorption.
Helps You Burn Fat And Lose Weight. Another noteworthy advantage of staying hydrated by drinking water is its potential to contribute to weight management. In addition to serving as a natural appetite suppressant and promoting a feeling of fullness, water can also increase metabolic rate and assist in the processing of fat by-products, thereby facilitating the body’s ability to effectively eliminate excess fat. When you feel like you are craving for food, try drinking a glass of water. After a few minutes, that craving will most likely go away.
Drink it, love it, keep it going!
What are the most important things in our lives? If you really take a look at what they are, would your health be on the top of that list? Without your health and wellness, does your home, car or amount of money you make really that important. Of course we must have our basic needs met to be healthy, so what are we prioritizing as our basic needs? Let’s make sure water is at the top of that list.
How much, and what kind of water should I drink?
There is much debate surrounding this topic, but let’s examine some foundational principles that I have learned and tested. The standard set by TBM (Total Body Modification) for the Autonomic Recovery Program recommends consuming 1 quart of water for every 50 lbs. of body weight, which equates to ⅔ of an ounce of water per pound. Another standard guideline for hydration suggests drinking half of your body weight in ounces of water. Additionally, it is recommended to start your day with a hydration boost by consuming 16 oz of water infused with a pinch of salt, lemon wedges, or cucumber slices in the morning upon waking, and continuing to drink water throughout the day, as needed. I have found that incorporating this infused method with one of the previously mentioned hydration standards can promote optimal hydration.
As for the best type of water to drink, it is advised to consume water that has been “purified” through methods such as distillation, reverse osmosis, or filtration, as all are considered acceptable. Alkalized water is viewed more as a medicinal product in TBM and can be used in the infused hydration method. Additionally the 16 oz of infused water does not count towards your total water intake for the day in the TBM protocol. Water only for that system of healing.
Who is correct?
All of them are. If you are dealing with chronic health issues, you should definitely be more hydrated. In the Autonomic Recovery Program, multiply your weight by .667 to determine your required ounces per day. Autonomic Recovery pertains to the nervous system’s ability to regulate between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system. The sympathetic system, commonly known as the fight or flight system, and the parasympathetic system, known as the rest and digest system, must be in balance. Most chronic health issues such as depression, diabetes, major allergies, heart disease, and more can be attributed to autonomic disharmony. The less strict but and base level method is consuming half of your body weight in ounces of water daily. This is a minimum requirement for individuals recovering from a spinal subluxation or misalignment, particularly in the C1-C2 area of the spine. This hydration method is essential for healthy joints, muscles, brain function, digestive function, and overall well-being. Infused water is a great way to kickstart your day by replenishing your electrolytes and essential minerals.
It is absolutely CRUCIAL that you understand this – your health depends on it! If you’re not keeping up with your water intake, it’s imperative that you cut back on your salt consumption. But if you ARE staying hydrated, then you absolutely MUST up your salt and electrolyte intake to keep your body balanced and functioning at its best. Your body is a precious temple, treat it with the love and care it deserves.
Short and sweet.
